Alaska offers an extraordinary boating environment, from the protected passages of the Inside Passage and sheltered Southeast coves to glacial bays, strong tidal waters, and more exposed coastal conditions. That range makes it a powerful place to build boating skills in navigation, weather awareness, currents, anchoring, and real-world decision-making.

NauticEd connects you with recognized schools and experienced instructors across Alaska who provide hands-on, on-the-water training for both sailing and powerboating. Combined with NauticEd’s multimedia online courses, this approach builds real-world competence in line with U.S. Coast Guard American National Standards and international licensing frameworks, so you can confidently sail and powerboat anywhere in the world.

I grew in Alaska fishing, hunting, hiking, and yes a lot of boating. As an adult, a friend of mine took me out on a multi-day sailing adventure and I was HOOKED! I grew in Alaska fishing, hunting, hiking, and yes a lot of boating. As an adult, a friend of mine took me out on a multi-day sailing adventure and I was HOOKED! Since then I've had three different boats trading up each time. Currently I own a Beneteau First 35s5. My boat is in Seward, Alaska and once the snow goes away, I am there every chance I get. I love sailing and teaching people how to sail. If you haven't had a chance to sail on Beneteau's line of First racer/cruiser boats, you are missing out. Somehow Beneteau has made an excellent boat where it is just a comfortable to go out racing in 20knots of wind as it is to spend a week cruising the beautiful south central Alaska. Available Options: BOOK A MULTI-DAY CHARTER AND GET THE COURSES FOR FREE. Do the course and competencies at the same time. $150/hr on the water with your personal boat $200/hr on water training $800/day (5-8hr) on water training $1200/night (roughly 24hr) on water training
Location notes:
I train on a Beneteau First 35s5 in Seward Alaska. I am available anywhere in the anchorage area for personal coaching of book work. I am also available to offer practical lessons on your boat anywhere you'd like as long as it is seaworthy. Contact me for further details.
