Level IV Captain Rank Chief Sailing Instructor / Assessor

I grew up in a Southern California beach town and spent my youth in and by the ocean. I learned to sail small boats and loved to read about sailing adventures from the past. After studying creative writing in college I became a professional musician. It was not until I was 48 that I actually started skippering sailing yachts. I went through the American Sailing Association program to become a bareboat skipper and I began doing as many bareboat charter trips as I could, as well as crewing for other skippers who owned their own boats. I subsequently went on to earn my USCG OUPV and 25 Ton Master certs. I was often teaching my friends how to crew on the various charter boats and I found that I enjoyed sharing the knowledge I had gained. I believe an approach emphasizing patience, compassion and gentleness is broadly the best way to gain competency. Allowing others to come to an understanding of a skill or a topic at their own pace is most effective.

The Sea of Cortez is a great place to learn to sail. The season is October through May. I am available to instruct wherever you would like.
Notes: I am available to travel and assist with skippering anywhere you are or would like to sail.
