Level V Captain Rank Qualified Sailing Instructor / Assessor

Capt. Mike Merriman USCG 100-Ton Master | PADI SCUBA Master Instructor | USAF Veteran Mike brings a lifetime of maritime experience and military precision to the NauticEd community. Currently the Captain of a large Schooner in Salem and an Assistant Harbormaster on the Merrimack River, his expertise is backed by a USCG 100-Ton Master’s license and decades of navigating the New England coast—from Block Island to Penobscot Bay—aboard his Sabre 32. With a professional career in Educational Technology and status as a PADI Master Instructor and EFR Trainer, Mike bridges the gap between technical maritime theory and practical, on-the-water skill. He specializes in breaking down complex maneuvers into intuitive, actionable steps, helping students transition from the classroom to the cockpit with confidence and safety. Mike is available to help students validate their on-the-water competency and progress through their NauticEd Rank and Level requirements.
