Vaughan was an amazing instructor -exceptionally patient with difficult student like me. His boat is an older one, but reasonably maintained. Having everything manual and his discussions about the challenges of maintaining an older boat were very useful in our training. I would not hesitate to recommend Vaughan Johansen to someone wanting to learn to sail or improve their sailing skills. Thanks Vaughan!

Learning to sail with Vaughan was awesome! I went from having never sailed to confidently able to skipper a sailboat in 4 days on the water with him, and I had a blast to boot! Super patient and knowledgeable I would recommend him as a teacher to anyone looking to learn how to sail! He's a solid dude!

Feel competent but not confident to be a skipper yet, my prior experience was zero tho. He is respectful and open to feed back.

Cannot really remember about "National Standard Rubrics assessment methodology". I feel I can skipper as a newbie, knowing that I would have to start in less challenging conditions. I now have a good grasp of how to evaluate those conditions and of what skills have to be built up.

Vaughan went above and beyond to make sure I learned what is required to be a SAFE efficient, and competent Large Keelboat Skipper. I found that he was able to adapt to the student's learning techniques making it a very rewarding experience for everyone.
