NauticEd Sailing Certificate
There are three Ranks and five Levels pertinent to yacht chartering. The Ranks are Skipper, Bareboat Charter Master and NauticEd Captain. Ranks are dependent upon the amount of education a student has successfully completed. The Levels are I through V and are dependant on the amount of experience that a student has logged in their logbook. Additionally, the certificate will represent any proficiency verification test outs by Professional Sailing Schools. The video and graphic below illustrate how the Ranks and Levels work together to give a combined competency rating of the NauticEd Student. Additionally, Students who have attended a Practical Hands-On Sailing School have a Practical Verification stamp on their Sailing Resume and Sailing Certificate which can only be added electronically by an authorized NauticEd Affiliate Sailing School. The testing Instructor must login to verify the student's practical proficiency after a practical sailing test.
Additionally, the NauticEd Sailing Certification also reflects:
A day out on the water is counted as a minimum of 4 hours underway. For level advancement, at least 50% of a students time must have been logged as master of the vessel and 50% of a student's time must be on a vessel greater than 28 ft (6.8m). Most charter companies accept students who have reached the Rank of Bareboat Charter Master Level III, therefore we encourage students to attain that level as soon as they can. The NauticEd Rank and Level system is based on the NauticEd student's education and experience. As a yacht charter or charter broker company, you can view our students sailing resume/logbook and determine for yourself if the student qualifies to charter your vessels. We recommend a minimum of Bareboat Charter Master Level III.
