My personal comment and commitment to you
Sail fast and efficiently, responsibly and safely. Even after four decades under sail, I'm always keen to pick up new knowledge - and happy to pass it on, to anyone who wants to learn. Kids, hop aboard, and adults, learn the tricks of the trade! Thinking ahead and being confident and competent is no contradiction to having loads of fun, either in a team or while single handing.
Born and raised in Germany, I started sailing at the age of 13 on Dutch rivers. Later based in Berlin, I explored the Baltic, and cast off to Denmark, Finland and Russia. Since my moving to New York in 2006 as photographer and author, I crew and skipper regularly in races on the Long Island Sound, in New York Harbor, and out of Cape Ann, MA.
Regular offshore trips on the Atlantic along the Eastern seaboard from Maine down to the Bahamas, and over to Bermuda. A Transatlantic is in planning. For 15 years I skippered a 30'' C&C sloop out of Larchmont, NY, and sailed every drop of water around Long Island to Block
