Level V Bareboat Charter Master Rank Qualified Sailing Instructor / Assessor

Rated 5/5 by 2 students
I was introduced to sailing by a grizzled old shipwright in the icy fjords of Norway on a wooden sloop he had built. Whetting a lifelong desire for a life under canvas and rigging. Several misadventures and sometime later I ended up in the Caribbean with a bunch of derelict engine-less sailboats of various designs and origins, which somehow seemed like a great idea to acquire at the time. I learned to rebuild them with primitive materials and tools, taking lessons from the innovative locals, old salts taking refuge in the hurricane hole I was posted up in, and drawing on my past experiences. It was there on these boats I began teaching sailing to volunteers that joined me on my sailing adventures and hosting a reoccurring educational sailing festival whilst also dabbling in the charter business realm. In December 2017 I decided to sail my boat solo from Guatemala to Key West. I look forward to teaching you the "ropes" in Fort Lauderdale, South Florida, and beyond!

Practical Competence of Skipper (small keelboat) Rank
I came to the bareboat master assessment (SLC) with expectations of passing. I soon realized I had many shortcomings and needed more training. Jack was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and patient. I'm grateful for his advice and encouragement and look forward to continuing the pursuit of my licence under his guidance and instruction.

Practical Competence of Bareboat Charter Master Rank
Captain Jack was very patient and great to learn from. I needed a lot of practice maneuvering under power before the assessment and he worked with me all day getting my technique down. I feel much more confident in my ability to handle a 40-50 foot sailboat in a tight marina.
