Why Take the Jet Ski Course?

Many riders think a jet ski is “ just like a bike on water” — but jet skis have unique handling characteristics, legal requirements, and safety considerations. Without proper training, you risk losing out on the fun, causing injury, damaging the craft, or breaking local laws — especially in the Mediterranean where licensing is strictly enforced. In just 4 hours, you’ll:

- Gain the theory-knowledge to meet U.S. Coast Guard–recognized standards
- Be ready to pass the on-water skills assessment for your SLC-Jet Ski International License
- Ride confidently in a variety of conditions, including busy harbors and open water
- Protect yourself, your passengers, and the environment

As with all NauticEd powerboating courses, you can return as many times as you like to brush up on jet ski skills, and if you're not completely satisfied, we'll happily refund your purchase. Feel welcome to contact NauticEd at any time.

This Course is perfect for you if:

  • You’re considering buying a jet ski and want to start with a strong foundation
  • You’re new to jet skis—or experienced and looking to sharpen your skills
  • You’re heading on a beach holiday and may rent a jet ski (better to be prepared than not)
  • You are a yacht charter guest needing a Jet Ski / PWC license in Croatia, France, Spain, Italy, or Greece

Your enrollment includes lifetime course access and a complete satisfaction guarantee

Does this course prepare for the International Jet Ski License?

Yes! This international jet ski course is designed to meet global standards and prepare you for obtaining an official international license for jet skis. Just complete the four requirements below:

  1. Complete this online Jet Ski Course. Your free NauticEd boating resume will show you’ve met the theory-knowledge standard from a recognized jet ski education course.
  2. Add an on-water assessment with a NauticEd-qualified Jet Ski Instructor or an STCW-certified international captain to earn your SLC-jetski verified practical skill stamp. This is equivalent to what you’d find in an RYA PWC course, ensuring you’re trained to a professional level.
  3. Complete your state boater safety card (for U.S. residents) or PCOC (for Canadians). This satisfies national requirements and aligns with global jet ski water safety course standards.
  4. Pay the International License Fee of $95 to receive your official certification, a recognized RYA jet ski licence equivalent, accepted by port authorities across the Mediterranean and worldwide.

This is a complete personal watercraft course online — from theory to practical skills — giving you both confidence on the water and the credentials to ride legally in destinations that require licensing.

Wind Pushing Away From the Dock (Most Difficult)

You'll need to keep slight power engaged to maintain position.

Steps:

  • Have the bow dockline attached and in reach by your side
  • Approach at a 45-degree angle to the dock
  • Maintain enough throttle to counteract the wind.
  • Steer away from the dock at the last moment
  • Reach the dock and secure the bow line to the dock before the wind pushes it back.
  • Turn the handlebars to the dock and apply reverse, the stern will move to the dock
  • Secure the stern, then the other docklines

Play the animation (inside the course) below to see how to use reverse thrust to make your stern come to the dock
