Rated 4.78/5 by 8 students
Experienced and dedicated boat captain with a passion for navigating the open waters. I am currently working as a commercial boat captain for Navigare Yacht Charter Company at the moment and have been for several years. I have a proven track record of safely and efficiently operating various types of sailing vessels, with a strong knowledge of navigation, maritime regulations, and emergency procedures. I can customize your trip to your desire between a balance of training and vacation - just let me know. Questions and feedback will be appreciated. I like the saying "respect the water - respect the crew - respect the vessel". Safety is my number one priority so i will work with you to feel safe at all times. I understand that the main goal is to have an amazing experience, thus we will all work together to ensure that happens for you.

Javan Cooper

Private Instructor - Nanny Cay, Tortola, British Virgin Islands
My sailing journey began on an Optimist at the tender age of 6 in Road Harbour. For the next decade, we (my fellow sailors and I) competed in a dozen regattas every year. Over the years, more than a dozen sailing instructors volunteered and poured into us to ensure that we would have the opportunity to become professional sailors. Our last regatta boat was a IC24 (a modified J/24). I continue to enjoy living on Tortola and working as a private instructor at any charter company in The British Virgin Islands - The Sailing Capital of the World. I love nurturing new sailors and the nautical lifestyle.
