If a particular yacht is unavailable, your dates change, or another arrangement makes more sense, you also have someone who can work through the alternatives rather than starting the search again yourself.

Is Go Now Croatia a private charter, and can I bring family or friends?

Yes. You charter the whole yacht for your own group.

This is not a by-the-cabin course with unrelated students aboard. Bring your spouse or partner, children, family, or friends, subject to the yacht’s capacity and normal charter requirements.

Not everyone has to participate equally. One person may spend more time working with the Instructional Captain while others swim, relax, explore ashore, or simply enjoy the trip.

How far in advance should we inquire?

Earlier is better if your dates are fixed, you want a particular type of yacht, need several cabins, or plan to travel during the busy summer season.

A Go Now charter also requires matching the trip with an appropriate Instructional Captain.

You do not need to have everything decided before contacting NauticEd. Starting the conversation early simply gives us more options for putting the right charter together.

How much does a Go Now Croatia charter cost?

There is no single fixed price.

Cost depends on the yacht, season, dates, group and cabin requirements, Instructional Captain, and optional extras.

Your NauticEd agent will put together a proposal showing the expected costs and what is included. Depending on the trip, separate expenses may include airfare, transfers, provisioning, fuel, marina or mooring fees, activities ashore, and other charter expenses.

How long is a Go Now Croatia charter?

Most Go Now Croatia trips follow the rhythm of a weeklong yacht charter, although actual boarding and return schedules can vary.

Your NauticEd agent coordinates the charter dates with your travel plans, yacht availability, charter-base schedule, and Instructional Captain.

How are the Instructional Captain’s cabin, travel, meals, and gratuity handled?

The Instructional Captain needs appropriate accommodation aboard, so that is taken into account when NauticEd helps select the yacht and cabin layout.

Travel, meals, and other captain-related expenses are also considered in the trip proposal so you know how the arrangement works before you book.

A traditional sailing course is usually organized around a syllabus, specific skills, and certification objectives.

Do I need previous sailing or boating experience?

No. You do not need previous experience simply to participate in a Go Now Croatia charter with an Instructional Captain aboard.

If you are new, you get to experience how chartering works with an experienced professional beside you.

If you already have boating experience, the more useful part may be things you have not done before — a larger yacht, Mediterranean mooring, unfamiliar harbors, charter systems, or managing the boat for a complete week.

Is Croatia a good place for a first instructional yacht charter?

Yes. You can experience those decisions before taking full responsibility for them yourself.

What is Mediterranean mooring, and will I learn it?

Mediterranean mooring is a common way of securing a yacht in Mediterranean harbors, often with the yacht stern-to the quay and the bow held by a laid mooring line or another securing arrangement.

For many sailors coming from North America, it is one of the most unfamiliar parts of chartering in Croatia.

Depending on the yacht, harbor, conditions, and your goals, you may work with your Instructional Captain on the approach, crew preparation, line handling, close-quarters maneuvering, and getting the yacht safely secured.

Do I need to know Mediterranean mooring before I come?

No. Mediterranean mooring is one of the destination-specific skills you can work on during Go Now.

You may already know how to sail and still have little or no experience backing a cruising yacht into a busy Mediterranean harbor.

Your Instructional Captain can introduce the techniques and crew routines in the context where you will actually use them.

How much of the week is instruction?

That depends on you.

Some guests want to be involved in planning, navigation, boat handling, anchoring, mooring, weather, and yacht systems throughout the week. Others participate when something particularly useful or interesting is happening.

There is no fixed number of instructional hours. The goal is to let the learning fit naturally into the charter vacation.

Do I need a sailing license or bareboat certification to participate in Go Now Croatia?

No. You do not need to arrive qualified to independently skipper the charter because a qualified NauticEd Instructional Captain is aboard.

Returning later to charter on your own is different. Croatia and the charter operator will have qualification and experience requirements that need to be satisfied before you take responsibility for a bareboat charter.

What qualification will I need to return and bareboat charter in Croatia on my own?

Can I earn NauticEd certification or an SLC during Go Now Croatia?

Go Now is not designed as a guaranteed certification week, but a properly prepared student may be able to work toward an assessment during the charter.

Whether an assessment is appropriate depends on your prior knowledge, practical skills, experience, preparation, and the Instructional Captain’s professional judgment.

Any certification or SLC International License goal should be discussed with NauticEd before the trip so we can determine what is realistic.

Is Go Now useful if I already have sailing certification?

Yes. In fact, Croatia can be particularly useful for someone who already has sailing training or certification but has limited Mediterranean charter experience.

Do we need to provision for the entire week?

When is the best time to take a Go Now charter in Croatia?

There isn’t one best time for everyone.

Should we arrive in Croatia before the day the charter starts?

Yes. We recommend arriving at least a day before the yacht checkout.
