Atlantic Crossing: Bermuda to the Azores Dates: May 10 – June 1, 2026 (weather dependent) Route: Bermuda ➝ Ponta Delgada, São Miguel (Azores) Distance: ~1,900 NM Estimated Time Underway: 15–21 days at sea Availability: This passage is offered by the cabin aboard a crewed vessel. Private cabin arrangements are available for individuals or couples. The entire boat may also be reserved for private groups with sufficient experience—contact us directly to inquire. Overview: This is a serious open-ocean passage designed for sailors looking to gain real offshore experience. We begin with a thorough safety and systems orientation in Bermuda. After completing Safety at Sea training and a short systems shakedown sail, we wait for a favorable weather window before departing for the Azores. Our route takes us north to 38°–40°N before turning east, using the Gulf Stream and routing forecasts to guide our crossing. Provisioning: All essential provisions are included: Meals, snacks, coffee/tea, and drinking water for the duration of the crossing Crew will share galley duties on a rotating watch schedule Please inform us of dietary restrictions in advance Training & Experience: This passage is hands-on and includes optional training in: Offshore navigation and routing Watchstanding and night sailing Weather systems and forecast interpretation Heavy weather tactics and sail handling Emergency and safety procedures (including man overboard drills) No prior offshore experience is required, but a willingness to fully participate as an active crew member is essential. All participants will be assigned to a watch team. Professional Crew Provided: The vessel will be captained by a USCG licensed Captain and NauticEd Instructor/Assessor. An additional professional crew member may be aboard depending on final crew size. Additional Costs (Not Included): Travel to/from the vessel (Bermuda & Ponta Delgada) Meals and lodging ashore before or after the crossing Personal travel/medical insurance (required) Optional certifications (e.g., NauticEd logbook endorsements) Expectations: This is a true offshore experience. You may encounter big seas, sustained night watches, and multi-day stretches without contact with the outside world. All crew must be comfortable living in close quarters, contributing to shared tasks, and adapting to changing conditions at sea. The reward? Landfall in the Azores after hundreds of miles of open ocean—an unforgettable achievement few sailors ever experience. Link to more information about this Opportunity.
