John Neal's 350,000 ocean miles include six Cape Horn roundings plus expeditions to the edge of the ice in Antarctica and Svalbard. He has conducted 177 offshore sail-training expeditions since 1990 aboard his Hallberg-Rassy 42 and 46, named Mahina Tiare. His passion is training expedition members to be able safely sail their own vessels worldwide.

Amanda Swan Neal's 308,000 ocean miles include completing the Whitbread Around the World Race (now called the Volvo Race) as rigger aboard Maiden, the first all-women Whitbread yacht, multiple Sydney-Hobart races and 30 years involvement in international sail-training. She has worked as a rigger and sailmaker in NZ, Australia and the UK. Since joining John Neal in 1994 for Mahina Tiare's Cape Horn and Antarctic expeditions she has co-skippered all Mahina training expeditions. Amanda enjoys introducing women to the joys of the cruising lifestyle.

Take online theory sailing courses with NauticEd, then use our skilled in-house sailing instructors to gain practical sailing experience and confidence. Once you pass the courses and practical training, you'll be awarded with a NauticEd Sailing Certification with Verified Practical Competency.
