I don't remember the first time I went sailing, but it is family lore. Two years old, having stayed on the beach and hearing how much fun everyone else had on a boat, I announced that I'd like to go sailing. My family dropped everything and that was it. From there I've spent a lot of time on other people's boats. Coastal cruising in Monterey Bay and San Diego. Family sailing in San Fransisco Bay, Catalina Island, Santa Barbara. Collegiate dingy racing and corinthian big boat racing on Lake Michigan. Delivery through the Panama Canal. Charters in Caribbean, Great Lakes, the Med. But some of the best sailing I've known has been in the New York City because of the Hudson River Community Sailing where I started volunteering with new sailors, high schoolers, racers, and the general public. Now I've expanded to teach and share my love of sailing aboard Calliope, a 36 foot sailboat in Long Island Sound. Helping new sailors get move from small keelboats to "big boat" sailing and cruising.

Practical Competence of Bareboat Charter Master Rank
Nate is an experienced, knowledgeable instructor/tester. He set me at ease with his manner and professional decorum and thus allowed me to perform the skills being tested comfortably.

I had a great experience with Nate, he was an excellent and knowledgeable captain and made my SLC assessment a great experience. His boat is in a perfect harbor for the assessment, he provided clear instructions and we had a great afternoon.
