Predicting Tides at Sub Stations
Posted 2026, Mar 27 02:31
The case example: At Port Farrow, it is a neap high tide time and the height is predicted to be 3.4 m. What will the low Neap tide be at Rodney Cove? The published answer says to subtract 0.2 meters = 3.2 m. I am confused why the answer is using the MHWN difference (-.02) when the question is asking for MLWN. Based on the other examples on the page, I assumed we would use the MLWN differences for Rodney Cove, published in the MLWN column, so 1.1+.05 = 1.6. My thinking here was that we only apply the MHWD for Rodney Cove if we are trying to calc the HW difference where as we would apply MLWN differences to estimate the LWN tide for Rodney Cove?? What am I missing? Thank you
