My personal comment and commitment to you

I started out sailing at 16 years old by buying a home built 12' sloop. Over the years have owned 6 boats and sailed OPB (other peoples boats) for many years. Some highlights are sailing from Hawaii to Dana Point on a 54' Morgan center cockpit (three weeks at sea), racing from Newport to Ensenada (4 times), and crewing on two historic schooners, Kelpie and Curlew. Both built in the 1920's and 82' long. I love to share sailing with people and have done teaching at Aventura Sailing Assoc. I am known for my patience and calm demeanor onboard. Sailing is in my blood and teaching is my pleasure.

Roger was thorough but still made it fun to learn. He was not hesitant to point out are mistakes but did so in a positive way. Roger understood my physical limitations and didn’t make me feel bad about getting the crew to compensate for them.

I only say somewhat, because I feel I need to put more time on the water to truly solidify and demonstrate my ability to handle many un-expected circumstances. I say this with the utmost humility for the Ocean, the age old art and science of sailing. Roger was an excellent instructor! He helped to foster a desire to sail that I suspect will never go away!

Roger went above and beyond what I expected. I'm an absolute beginner with very little on the water sail time. With anything that I learn, and apply, repetition coupled with real time experience will take me to a confident level of skippering a keelboat.

Roger is an excellent instructor. I did not plan on learning as much as I did but he really challenged me to be come proficient. The course was enjoyable and challenging thanks to Roger.

Roger is an amazing instructor. He shared his experience while teaching. He was very patient and encouraging. I would highly recommend Roger to anyone wanting to learn to sail. Because of Roger's instruction I felt comfortable piloting my 36' sailboat from San Diego to Long Beach. Roger is a true asset, a great instructor, and an amazing person.
