I am a lifelong sailor. I have both raced and cruised on sailboats. In 1996 I represented South Africa (sailing) in the Olympic Games in the Laser class, and later in life completed a circumnavigation by sailing around the world in my own Lagoon 400 catamaran, SV Cool Runnings (http://svcoolrunnings.blogspot.com/ ) , from April 2016 to June 2018 with my wife and two kids. I have tons of experience and did all my own fit out and maintenance of all systems and engines prior to our circumnavigation, and as we cruised around the world. In addition I am a USCG Certified Captain, OUPV and 50 Ton Masters upgrade with sail endorsement. I hold a CASA Yacht Skippers Certificate from Ocean Sailing Academy, Durban, South Africa. I served in the South African Navy aboard a Strikecraft (guided missile fast attack ship) in some of the most challenging seas you will ever experience.
