Coming of age in the 1980s in South Africa, I grew up with endless horizons and a spirit of adventure. At just 13, I taught myself to sail on dinghies, turning curiosity into capability and laying the foundation for a lifelong passion. What started as a boy’s dream has become more than 14,000 nm of big-boat sailing experience across oceans, challenging conditions, and diverse vessels. As a professional airline pilot and certified flight instructor and examiner, I’ve spent years training both new pilots and new instructors. I understand how to break down complex skills, build confidence under pressure, and create a safe, supportive learning environment where students thrive. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to sharpen your offshore skills, I bring to the sailboat, the same discipline, patience, and passion for excellence that I use every day on the flightdeck.
