I developed my love for sailing when I took a sailing class with a city of S.D. Parks and Recreation program when I was 12 years old. With over 30,000 NM racing, cruising and delivering sailboats from 8’ to 68’ and power boats from dinghy’s to 170’ this all in the Eastern Pacific from California to HI and Puerto Vallarta, MX to Sidney BC, Canada. Nothing brings me greater joy than sharing my skills and knowledge teaching someone to share my love for sailing in a low stress and enjoyable way. I am an Instructor for the NauticED Qualified Crew, Coastal Skipper, Bareboat Charter Master and Captain Rank Certifications. My lesson plans assist my students in acquiring the sailing knowledge, seamanship and boat-handling skills required to be a safe, confident, responsible and prepared Skipper. San Diego has ideal year round sailing conditions for you to learn in.

Practical Competence of Skipper Rank
What a great experience we've had with Captain Mike Roll! He totally exceeded my expectations. He tailored the classes specifically for what I needed and gave me the opportunity to practice and check all the maneuvers I needed to do. Mike was also very encouraging with my wife who came for the second day of sailing and gave her instructions on being the helmsman while I was handling all the sails. She did not feel intimidated at all, but Mike gave her more confidence through clear, friendly instructions. This was so helpful for enabling us to work as a team and move us closer to Bareboat Chartering dreams! Practical Competence of Bareboat Charter Master Rank
Captain Mike Roll is an awesome instructor and evaluator. We spent a lot of time on the water going over hands on maneuvering of a 40' boat. I'm lot more comfortable at the helm now. It was a great experience.
