NauticEd Sailing School Students
"I cannot imagine any condition which would cause a ship to founder. I cannot conceive of any vital disaster happening to this vessel. Modern ship building has gone beyond that." The quote is not presented to mock Captain Smith. It serves to humble us. No man or women has experienced all there is to experience at sea. No matter your experience, we're all learning to sail at some level. From day 1, NauticEd Students are issued a sailing certificate and sailing resume/logbook. These grow with the Student's theory education, the Student's on-the-water experience, and the Students practical on-the-water training and test-out through NauticEd affiliated professional sailing schools. NauticEd has developed this Sailing Certification system from many years of sailing education, working with recognized authors and dozens of interviews with charter companies and sailing schools instructors. Charter Companies world wide from the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Pacific, Atlantic and more accept the NauticEd Sailing Certification. The NauticEd system of documentation and sailing certification then, is the perfect solution to meet these requirements. Watch our 3 minute video on how to gain a Sailing Certificate.
Specifically, the Certification is based on 4 ranks and 5 levels within each rank. Levels reflect the exact days-on-the-water experience that a student has performed. An algorithm in the NauticEd software calculates the level awarded based on size of the sailing vessel and whether the student was master or crew on the vessel. Ranks are Crew - Skipper - Bareboat Charter Master - Captain. They are based on the theory education and passing grade the student has attained as well as a required minimum level of experience.
The total $ shown above reflect the total "a la carte" prices of the individual Courses and Clinics. When you consider the vast amount of information presented and the education you will gain, the costs are insignificant compared to safety of lives, sailing enjoyment and the sense of accomplishment. Additionally, the NauticEd Sailing Certification also reflects:
Therefore at any point in a Student's learning to sail life, the NauticEd Sailing Certificate, resume and logbook presents a reflection of the Student's real-life ability and knowledge. Charter companies rely on this reflection to determine if they should release a vessel to the student for a Yacht Charter sailing vacation. Government authorities use this information to determine if the student is acceptable to captain commercial and/or recreational vessels. For Example, the United States requires that a student have documented 360 days of time on the water before they will issue a USCG Captain's License. Croatia and Greece require that the student have a recognized sailing certificate prior to the harbor master in their ports releasing a recreational yacht charter.
